Just for the record, I usually go into little fits of convulsions whenever I watch a Democratic debate and hear them start debating the extent to which their government-sponsored, taxpayer-funded programs should be mandated.
Of course, the Republicans aren’t any different these days. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to the days when the people empowered the government, rather than listening to the government talk about who’s going to do the most to empower us.

Yeah, I watched last night because I figured it was my last-chance to catch the freak-show.
I listen to Glenn Beck religiously, but figured that his descriptions of Obama’s policies might be cherry-picked.
NOPE. Obama is one. scary. dude.

Still not as scary as Hillary. I keep thinking Obama misses a huge opportunity to say, “I’m allowing people to choose health care instead of mandating it because I respect people’s ability to choose for themselves!” (unless he doesn’t actually believe this, but Tricia, who’s read his book, seems to think he does…). At the very least he’s saying, “If we make health care affordable, people will choose to buy it.”

I’ve just been reading PJ O’Rourke’s ‘Parliament of Whores’ - a great explanation of the US political system. Now there’s a libertarian for you! If Paul and O’Rourke ran on a ticket together I’d buy my US citizenship just to vote for them. Great speeches too…
